Bobby G. Roy participated in History Day starting in grade 8 at Samuel Jackman Middle School. He continued to participate his entire high school career as a student at Valley High School.  Mr. Roy competed in a variety of categories, including the junior group documentary, senior group exhibit, and senior individual exhibit categories. His exhibit "The Unforeseen Triumph of a Tragic Event: The Port Chicago Mutiny" (1997), is part of the permanent collection of the Port Chicago Museum in Concord, CA.

Now an analyst for the California Department of Education (CDE), he continues to utilize the skills he honed in National History Day, most recently showcasing a 12.5' x 7' display entitled "300 Years of Filipino America" in the CDE building's lobby during December 2006.
